I recently purchased a case and fans and a Zalman LQ-310 from
TigerDirect
with a total of (3) rebates and I submitted and received all of them in a timely fashion.

I've received all TD rebates I sent in over at least the last 8 years or longer... since they've been 4myrebate.com

Looks like they jacked up prices on the items I was interested in for this 'offer'.

That's great, I am glad it worked out for you.

Having said that, why the stores in general just doesn't just discount the items instead? this is just my silly opinion - I really dislike rebates and actually did not have good experience, but like you said that could vary.

I am no longer buying items that require with any rebates.

The reason is usually because they're depending on forgetful people who neglect to submit the rebates. For those that do submit the rebates, they want to keep track of spending habits and collect people's information in their database (Information is pretty much equal to money as much as time is these days).

With that being said, I'd really like to see rebates done similar to
Staples
' EasyRebate system, where all submission is tracked and done electronically. This way, the companies still get the info they want (still a chance of people forgetting too), and we, the consumers, get our rebates faster. But alas, I guess mail in rebates remain just to support the US post office system.

Dont forget the charge of $2/month (Yes $2/MONTH) by Banks on Rebate cards if you dont use your rebate all at once. Forget Rebate, stay with Mbates.

Picked up a Madcatz MMO 7 mouse $20 cheaper than
Amazon
, and still have the $20 rebate coming. Try to avoid TD but this time it worked out...
