Deals of the Week… Going, Going, Almost Gone! (11/1/13 Edition)

By on November 1, 2013

It’s finally November, the greatest month of the entire year for bargain shoppers. As expected, online retailers have kicked off the month with a slew of aggressive deals, hoping to catch your attention before…duh-duh-duh…Black Friday. (For our projections on what to wait for this month, check out Best Deals to Buy in November and watch for our Black Friday hub coming November 4th!)

One thing to remember about online deals in November: Black Friday-type deals come early, so if you sit on a great deal hoping it will go lower, it may not happen and even worse, the deal won’t reappear at all (if the inventory is gone).

Here are 10 deals of the week (Oct. 26 to Nov. 1) that you really liked or we thought were pretty good… and are actually still valid:

1. Black November at Newegg

Online tech retailer Newegg traditionally kicks off November with an entire month of deals called…wait for it… “Black November.” A lot of the prices featured (or that will be featured in the coming weeks) are among the best of the entire year, with many price drops from previous sale discounts. (Here are some of the highlights and check the pricing history.) Plus, Newegg is offering $25 off orders of $250 or more with a special code on November 1st only. (Don’t fret if you miss this—there will be more.)

Expiration: 11/30.

2. Countdown to Black Friday at Amazon

Not to be outdone, Amazon started their Countdown to Black Friday Deals Week with multiple 20% to 25% off deals a day in various product categories, like the Alfred Hitchcock: The Classic Collection Blu-ray on sale for $24 (previously on sale for $30).

Expiration: 11/23.

3. Free Photo Books Up to $60 + Shipping

With a special $30 credit and 50% off code, you can basically get a hardcover photo book from Shutterfly for free (normally $30 to $60). You do have to pay $8 to $12 shipping, depending on the book’s weight.

Expiration: 11/4

4. Staples Gets Aggressive

Staples is offering customers $50 off clearance and discontinued cameras with a special code. Inventory is running out pretty quickly, so you must hurry to take advantage of this early Black Friday-esque deal. The Fuji FinePix JX680 16MP Digital Camera (pictured below) is still available for $50 shipped with the code ($79 at Amazon).

Expiration: 11/2.

5. Early Black Friday Outerwear Sale

REI Outlet also got in the act with big discounts (55% to 73% off) on men’s outerwear from brands like Marmot, Merrell and adidas. Naturally, stock is running out pretty quickly, so don’t wait for better prices to show up in a few weeks. It’s very unlikely they’ll replenish these particular coats and jackets anytime soon.

Expiration: 11/7.

6. No Contract, No Problem

HSN (yes, the Home Shopping Network) is selling the popular Samsung Galaxy S III 16GB Smartphone (no contract with Virgin Mobile) for $250 with free shipping. It’s about $340 on Amazon now and $350 at Virgin Mobile. Virgin Mobile boasts month-to-month unlimited messaging and data plans starting at $35 per month.

Expiration: Limited time.

Deals of the Week KFC-Original-Recipe-Boneless-Chicken7. Don’t Deny the Power of the Colonel

This printable coupon from KFC gets you a free Boneless Chicken Combo meal with purchase of another Boneless Chicken Combo meal. #allwin

Expiration: 11/10.

8. My Precious

XtremeGUARD makes screen protectors and tough clear film body protectors for a wide range of mobile phones, and they’re currently offering 80% off sitewide plus an extra 15% off Apple and Samsung protectors. You can get a full body protector set for the iPhone 5s for just $1.87 shipped with  two stackable codes. The same thing is about $9 at Amazon.

Expiration: Limited time.

9. Another Deal, Another Tablet

There are a lot of tablets out there, but the ASUS MeMO Pad HD 7 Android Tablet has positioned itself as an affordable alternative to the already affordable Google Nexus 7. It has a 1290×800 7″ IPS display (comparable to the 1st Gen Nexus 7), 16GB storage and quad-core processor. Groupon has it in blue and white for $130 with free shipping and returns.

Expiration: 11/4.

10. Membership Has Its Gift Cards

Technically, this deal doesn’t start until November 3rd, but you want to be ready for this one before it sells out. Groupon will have one-year Sam’s Club memberships bundled with $20 Sam’s Club Gift Cards and $25 in food service vouchers for $45. The regular price for membership without those goodies is $45.

Expiration: 11/8.
