Retro Superhero and Movie Hero Art

By on May 20, 2013

A few months ago, comic book artist Phil Noto’s rendition of Mark Hamill as a Jedi Knight 30 years after Return of the Jedi got fans really excited about the new Star Wars movies. His retro style is evocative of ’60s art and design and his works are featured in shows and galleries around the country.

Noto used to be a Disney animator before moving on to illustrate a variety of comic books from Superman and Batgirl to The Avengers and Wolverine. His Mad Men-style pieces capture the flair of that era using such characters as Superman (as played by Mad Men’s Jon Hamm, of course), James Bond (Sean Connery), Thor, Léon The Professional (Jean Reno), Thomas Jerome Newton (David Bowie), the Scarlet Witch, Colossus, Shadowcat and others.

Win a Superhero-Sized Trip to San Diego presented by Ben’s Bargains and Game Rant! The sweepstakes ends June 9th. Enter now!
