Limited Edition Journey Statue Captures the Game Beautifully

By on July 22, 2015

Coinciding with the re-release of the PS3-exclusive Journey this week on the PS4 is this magnificent and sentimental limited-edition statue.

Journey StatueWhat makes it special isn’t the fact that they’re only making 1,000 of them (you should go here, right now, if you want one), but that they’re making 2,000 characters in total. Journey, as enormously beautiful and successful an experience it was on its own, became something truly transcendent when another lone player wandered into your game world. This is what set the game apart, and I’m glad the statue’s designer, Tim Miller, doesn’t forget that.

The statue stands roughly 11 inches tall and is made of a polystone material. As mentioned, head here to pre-order it. It’s a limited-edition in the strictest sense, and well worth the $150 asking price if Journey was as memorable to you as it was for me. The planned shipping date is July 31.

The new version of the game on the PS4, which officially hit the digital marketplace on July 21, runs at an updated 60 frames per second in 1080p resolution. Sony has also granted the title cross-buy support, which means if you owned it on PS3 you should be able to download it for free.

The original game rightfully sits at a 92 on Metacritic.
