It would be a great deal IF, IF, IF it was reliable...trust me, they're service is very shaky.

I've had 3 FP phones for my young kids and it's "ok" for them...but it would never suffice for an adult.

My 2 year experience:

Data: no issues, but they do cut you off 100MB before you run out unless you keep a credit card on file and turn on auto "top up".

Text: 95% reliable. Some delays in send/rcv but totally usable for non critical communications. A few months back, a text I sent my kid took 2 weeks to arrive...and I've had a number take several hours...so you've been warned.

Calls: HORRIBLE...nothing but non-stop "issues". You call, it rings on your phone, but the phone you're calling never rings! This has been an issue for over a year now; tech support has no real solution. You never know when it will work and when it won't.

Even when it does work, call quality or borderline unacceptable. There will be delays between you speaking and the person hearing it. Calls drop A LOT...if you plan to make a lot of calls...forget it!

My best advice, try it...DO NOT transfer your number until you're satisfied; then you can transfer it for a $20 fee.

I agree with the above. I use it, however, as being contacted via text or call is really what I "need." Making calls isn't super important to me, but I've been able to survive. I've probably saved thousands of dollars over the past few years. To me, not having 10 different type of service contracts has garnered me well appreciated financial flexibility. But doing a sprint share plan isn't too expensive

Mike, If you want a real phone, check out Tracphone...if you buy a 365 day card, and don't use all of it within that year, the cost works out to $8.33 per month. Home shopping network (HSN) has some really good deals; I got a galaxy Sky phone (basically a stripped down S5) with 1300 min/text/data for $99 with free shipping.

I just got the promo $.99 sim card with a month of "premium service" and have the same bad experience with the phone service. Phone doesn't ring on the receiving end when placing a call and when receiving a call the conversation breaks up continuously. Signal is very weak in the areas I've tried it (I thought Red Pocket was weak until I tried this one). Data seems OK when streaming video but I want a phone that works on voice (duh!).
