You can buy a used 55 gallon plastic drum or barrel off craigslist for around $10 to $15 each. If you're going to use it for drinking water, pick one that's food grade, didn't have chemicals stored in it.

^ Not so sure this is designed for that, you may need to cut a hole in the top for the downspout and put a spigot on the bottom... and I wouldn't really want to drink runoff from a roof, whether it has shingle grains, tar residue, or just residual dust/gunk/vehicle exhaust fallout/bird ****/etc in it.
