^ With generic lights it is common to have to fix some issues, clean them out, possibly resolder a wire or clean contact areas with steel wool or polishing compound, etc.
Granted it's not 300 lumens, probably closer to 100 but that's actually a good thing in order to get fair runtime off 3 x AAA cells and reduce price and weight by not needing a large heatsink. It is only $3.
Bought two of these from different vendors on back in December. One from Coutlet, and one from HC-Talk. The two look ever so slightly different (different shades of Olive green) and do perform slightly different. One is the tiniest bit brighter than the other. Unfortunately, there was minimal marking on the packages and it was hard to tell which came from which supplier. That being said, for $3 these are great headlamps. I have used them for camping a few times, and they certainly get the job done. Don't look at the specs, they're not 300 lumens. But they are a great product FOR THE PRICE.
