f/4 L glass with IS will put a serious dent in a wallet. Enthusiastic photographer like me, I suggest Sony alpha, IS is build in the body instead.

You can get the 70-300 IS USM (non-L) for something like $250 when they're on sale. It's not a constant f/4, or L glass, but it's less than half the price and you can use it without a tripod. And it's a really, really good lens.
