MetroPCS is CDMA, and since there's no 4G radio, that means little to no interoperability.

As a wifi tablet and camera, though, that's still a pretty sweet price!

MetroPCS is owned by T-mobile, so now it is GSM a carrier.

Rumor has it that the 520 is GSM and the 521 is CDMA.

    Could that be?

Any guess what plans this could be used on?

CDMA/GSM is almost a non-factor. I think SmartTalk does both.
I saw a GSM Verizon here a while back.
Is everybody using everybody else's towers?

Rebate handset must be activated on a MetroPCS
account and full service payment for second month of
service must be received no later than 35 days after
    the rebate handset activation.

Well.. That sorta shoots this down. So $29 + $40 +$40

metroPCS $40 Unlimited Data, Talk and Text
...receive the first 500MB data at blazing-fast 4G speeds. Once reached, 4G data speeds will be reduced for the rest of the monthly plan cycle.

The 520 is for ATT and the 521 is for T-Mobile and Metro PCS. People talk out there *** like Petejc. Why leave a comment that is so uneducated? Do some web search and find the info

Want to know if its CDMA or GSM? Read the specs

axactlee can you read? It says it has to be activated in the OP. Its for new subscribers only, ie you must SUBSCRIBE or activate. If you can't figure that out, read the darn REBATE FORM. It spells it out.

I have the the 521 on T-Mobile. Very good phone. It has some issues, namely when using it on Wi-Fi there are times when there are connection issue or you will get a text 3x in a row or texting will suddenly tell you it cant reach a number, make sure its the right number when you are 10 text deep already talking to the person.

Well worth the cost. Good sound from the speakers, good battery life, good speaker phone quality, good features. It would be a good price just to use for MP3 , vids, and apps. As a phone its a great inexpensive alternative to iphones but it is a step down. If you are a high end android or iphone user you might find it a bit limiting. If you are an average user, you will find it does 99% of what the others did for you.
