I don't think this would be compatible with CenturyLink in my area. Needs to be ADSL/VDSL compliant. Ditched Commiecast recently because they were sodomizing me and showed no love when trying to get the cost back down from $150 so bye, bye! Only streaming going forward and DSL for $30 is doing 3 simultaneous video streams with no problem covering my needs. I don't download/upload big files. We get screwed on this stuff in the USA compared to the other 1st world countries. So much for competition....
This is a great modem despite that the popular online mag rates it 3rd or something compared to the Arris/Motorola SB6141. These modems will be coming down in price more when DOCSIS 3.1 hits mainstream. Then let the gigabit battles begin!

that's the thing about competition in the cable markets in the US...there is very little of it. Here in the Northeast, some towns do have limited competition, (Verizon, Comcast, RCN) but it's more like oligarchy on the pricing and the service can be very bad if you need anything unusual.
