"dual drives with drive spanning" to put it lightly this is just an accident waiting to happen with your data...research.. research ..research... before investing in one of these "turn key" raid solutions
I didn't check the reviews but I'm sure there's a few reviews with tears in it :(
Just like any other storage option, if the data is valuable then you'll make a redundant copy of it elsewhere.
However you can configure it either way. It comes set up for drive spanning to make the 8GB volume but you can set it to RAID1 mirroring of 4GB before putting data on it if you prefer. Also it is user serviceable, the top opens without tools to swap drives should the need arise, unlike many retail products where once you pry open the case then the warranty is void.

Or stop wasting your money and get a Synology.
Thank you!
