Dont really know about the whole therapeutic claim but my friend has one of these and it is just a nice lamp to have around for atmosphere. Soothing soft glow.

a) these lamps do not "emit negative ions". This is nonsense. It's a lump of real salt. Salt does not evaporate at any significant rate.
b) These look pretty nice, I own a few.
c) LED bulbs won't work well with this due to a different light emission spectrum. It won't be same warm color.
d) Never put these even in moderately damp conditions. They will attract moisture and start melting. Can be a problem.

It depends on the lamp still being electrified.
