I didn't know anything about VisionTek and was wondering why this drive was so expensive compared to other manufacturers for the same amount of storage. It contains an SSD controller rather than a thumb drive controller making it extremely fast. It is also built with aluminum and is very rugged compared the most plastic thumb drives. The YouTube review below does a good job explaining this drive:
from the reviews post on , I didn't see any advantage of this drive over the PNY 256 GB for $70 on
Both are USB 3.0, but this on only has half the storage and pricier.
dpro- The difference is speed. The Mushkin (& VisionTek) are SSDs crammed into a thumbdrive form factor.
PNY Turbo USB 3.0 - Read speeds of up to 185MBps, and write speeds of up to 135MBps
Mushkin 120GB USB 3.0 - Read: up to 445MB/s Write: up to 440MB/s
A quick back-of-the-envelope calculation shows it would take more than 15 minutes to write 120GB to the PNY, while it would take about 5 minutes to write the same to the Mushkin. Ditto-ish on the read speed. If used for booting, the read speed might be a noticeable thing.
Also, most thumb drives are not suitable for multiple I/O--e.g. try reading and writing to the thumb drive at the same time, usually performs poorly--whereas this with an SSD controller would perform much better.
^^^ If you posted the above question, then you probably cannot, since you are not bright enough to understand what this *could* be used for.
There are more reasonable ways to answer other than being plain rude. Flash memory won't work optimally or in cost effective ways for every single application, and since you are not bright enough to point this out, you are not qualified to make statements in this thread.

Unnecessary roughness...

Thank you!
