Waiting on the 5k tv's to come out so I can skip buying this 4k cable on
Don't know if your joking or just don't know, but the next jump will be 8K. 4K is only twice the resolution of 1080p and is just a way for brands to sell new TV's. Remember 3D TV and how that was gonna change the way we watch TV? That was 5 years ago, and is pretty much dead on the consumer level.

4K will take over the TV market with only the cheap sets being 1080p or lower. This isn't like 3D where you'd need not just content but expensive glasses, especially having to wear them.
The question is when. It isn't likely this is just a blip that will go away with 8K replacing because of the bandwidth issues, both from content delivery and an HDMI standard and supporting silicon to TX/RX. Some day they'll be 8K or higher too, but that's distant future while 4K is now where 1080p was when it was just starting to reach affordable price points for the masses.
It may not be a good investment to get a 4K set today since it may not last until there's enough content to suit nay-sayers, but these tend to be the same people who don't seek 4K content because they don't have a 4K TV.

I mention 5k as this is the resolution Apple has put out. Whichever direction the market goes....i will never be able to keep up.
