I bought two of these right before BF. They were $130 then so this price is good.
I read on
Amazon
about them being noisy but so far they have been quiet.

I've had one since last year and I agree I don't hear mine as well. The noisiest Toshiba I have is the 3TB.

I bought a couple of these from Microcenter almost a year ago and they're indeed noticeably loud during reads/writes, but I've been seeing in the latest reviews that Toshiba likely updated the X300 series so new orders should be getting the quieter drives.

Sometimes you can use a utility to slow down the seek to reduce HDD noise, though I'd do that for an archive drive rather than one you run the OS from... if you don't want to use an SSD for that for some reason.
