Maybe, but I have a habit of breaking headphones (cord fraying, internal breakage at cup or plug end) so one that lasts 5X as long but only costs 3X as much is a better deal to me.
It just seems like a lot of the Chinese wire is junk that would fall apart by itself without my help.
