A friend got a 70" 4K Sony for $3.5 grand almost a year ago. It's stopped working few days before the warranty ran out. Sony replaced it with a refurbished one. The friend swears never go with Sony again.
I agree.
I personally don't own a Sony TV. But, i could say this, no matter what brand of TV, you will hear horror stories.
Samsung, LG, Vizio and others ALL have them. For a little while, Samsung TVs were notorious for having their TV motherboards going bad, and of course after the warranty.
I can't imagine ALL of the Sony TVs being bad.... but keeping a mental note.
I quit buying Sony after their multiple rootkit type infractions with CDs, which they followed up with new Blu-ray protections that made for Sony movies that wouldn't even play in Sony Blu-ray players. Next they'll figure out a way to mess up things with a TV and HDCP.
I just want to chime in that I have a 52" Samsung that went bad after 8 years. Obviously this was well after warranty, but I called because it was an expensive TV years ago. They actually sent out a tech who took the TV apart, took out some bad caps and welded good ones back in. She did it in under 10 minutes and left. No charge from Samsung. Since then, it's only Samsung TV's for me.
After getting burned on a $4,500 Samsung, I stick with ANY brand TV w/halfway decent reviews. I own three Sceptre's and have not had a single issue! I'm out a total of $750 on all three (2 are 42-46" and one w/fantastic 3D capabilities). When one goes, I'll move on. That $4,500 still hurts!

miss handling a LCD panel will cause problems.
I've never heard anything particularly bad about Fujitsu.
What's Fujitsu?
They used to make one of the best plasma TVs/screens in the industry. Don't know if they still do.
Thank you!
