How TF does bensbargains.net know if something is selling out? Do they have a backend connection to the inventory system of every store? Or are they just trying to keep their users excited and salivating? We're not dumb as-s-es, guys.

We actually do have a pretty good idea when something has a high sell-out risk, based on a few factors--one being that we have been doing this for a LONG time! Obviously some of it is subjective, but if you take a look at past deals with the "selling out tag", most of them did in fact sell out rather fast. We also use this badge for things like flash sales which only last a couple of hours. We have been getting complaints when deals expire quickly, so we figured this was a way to give people a heads up when we think that is going to happen. Thanks for the feedback, though!

I see what you're saying. Yeah it was really a question of something really short that would let people know it's a deal that probably won't last long. There's "act fast!" but that seems even more like we're trying to push people to buy stuff (like you mentioned in your first comment), which isn't how we want to come across. We're definitely open to suggestions! :)

A lot of the time people don't come back to check on whether there was a response, have PM popups disabled, have their email spam filter blocking too much or have an outdated email addr., so even if every effort is made to address something, people can still get the feeling nothing happened.
Sony PS3 wireless controller selling for $10 at Best Buy. Honestly, you don't need a measuring gauge to see how long it going to last.
If Ben Bargains in business for long time and knew exactly which item is going to be sold out quickly, like this one, put a big red " HOT ITEM " next to listing instead of Selling out.
And for those repeat listing, example Udemy. I don't have a problem or complaints, if it's a paid advertise, put a Sponsor Ad next to it. Done! if not we understand it a slow day...
^ But "Hot" Item would be a subjective opinion, one at odds with the Hotness Meter which is more data driven by activity parameters rather than speculative sell-out odds.

On the other hand you might be onto something about deals people don't want to see. There are deal filters inclusive of product categories but it would also be nice to have a "Hide This Deal" button for something specific that you never want to see again.
Problem is, if they start catering to minor requests like this, where does it end? Soon the deal posts would become too cluttered.
EUREKA! I know what we need. We need a magic trash can icon at the top right of every page. Whenever there is a deal we don't want to see, or a merchant we want filtered out, or a forum member's posts left out, we just drag a link to that deal, merchant, or forum member's profile to the trash can icon.
It would also be nice if we could click and drag advertisements there too, and make it work on other websites so I can get rid of product listings, Fox News reports, Youtube video comments, Miley Cyrus, and Justin Bieber. :P
