As for how well it works, I figure it's the same situation as cordless vs gas lawnmowers. Fine for small, light areas. reviewers stated it can handle about 4"-6" of medium density snow and run for about a half hour, 4/5 stars average rating.
Keep in mind that in a single-digit # of years you'll probably need to replace the battery, depending on the area you clear, region you live in, etc.
Their 4Ah capacity battery is currently $97 and 5Ah is $121. This addt'l cost and that it's light duty/construction, probably means it'll last through one battery change and have about half the lifespan of a gas powered model, so while the convenience factor is higher, the power is lower and total cost of ownership long term, probably not much different than a gas blower.
