Given the Seagate failure rates I've seen, I'm not sure I'd buy a Seagate at any price. I hope you're not storing any important or triple backed up.

I have three external Seagate drives and one internal and have never had a problem with them. Western Digital and Maxtor have proven to be terrible for me with a mechanical failure on the WD and a DOA one day on the Maxtor. Because of the latter, I do in fact triple-back up: C-Drive, External Drive(s) and DVD/BD backups.

look at https://www.backblaze.com/blog/best-hard-drive-q4-2014/ I have no statistically valid data of my own, but this site looks like my own experience, I've have 3 seagate failures, but WD or Maxtor lasting right until their not worth the electric bill. I just trashed 3 Maxtors from 80GB - 300GB. Still working, just time to move on.
