Since I'm no computer engineer, I have a question: if the only differences between this USB flash drive and a solid state drive installed in a laptop or desktop is that this memory device is removable and their respective sizes - (obviously) the memory amount and (I'm assuming) the architecture are identical - then why don't motherboard manufacturers just make a USB slot for a primary memory device instead a conventional "hard drive" as well as a second USB slot for a secondary internal memory device?

They are far from being identical, and the assumption that the only difference between them is that this one is removable is not a correct assumption.

Other than just saying that they are not identical, please explain how they are not identical. That is the answer that I'm seeking...not just "no, they aren't the same." Thank you.
for starters, SSD is many times faster than this. Second, USB ports are designed for the voltage that the USB port gives.
But, SSD still nowhere fast enough as a RAM ... Speed matters.
