I got one of these pieces of junk for 40 before Christmas. It plays all my mkv movies and tv shows from a usb drive but there is no sound! ... yep folks, NO SOUND! Lots of people having the same problem because it uses DTS pass through and not AC3 or something like that. Get a real media player like the ASUS O!Play ... reliable will play anything you throw at it including MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4, RM, RMVB, VC-1, H.264; Video File Extension : TRP, MP4, MOV, Xvid, AVI, ASF, WMV, MKV, RMVB 720p, RMVB 1080p, FLV, TS, MTS, M2TS, DAT, MPG, VOB, IFO, M1V, M2V, M4V and even ISOs of DVD and bluray disks and so on ... Have not found any ... ANY video format or codec that it will not play. Don't buy the ROKU as it is a very limited piece of junk.

I got a couple of these to replace the WD Live I had and you are right it is a pain to have to convert everything to mp4 but for streaming or using the premium services like Netflix this is way better than the WD. Can't comment on the ASUS, sounds cool enough but I had a really bad experience with ASUS and their customer support relating to a computer so I refuse to buy anymore of their products.

That is a bit odd, and fulfilled by Amex Bank of Canada, though it mentions the prepaid card is good for use in the US as well as Canada and mentions
Newegg.com
not Newegg.ca.

Roku is great but, as someone said you may be better of with other units such as a WD TV(discounted). The XS I have did not get the Netflix update as of yet so that was a let down since I heavily use profiles on the service.

Total Defense is a complete scam. You will not get your rebate. I submitted the rebate with all documents with the utmost care and the UPC code is mysteriously "missing". Claim denied.
