At the end of the free first year are you automatically billed to a provided credit card or do they alert you to renew and it won't without your action to do so, or some other situation?
Hmm, when I upgraded to Premium and applied the code it didn't show a before or after dollar amount nor does it on the receipt so there's no indication whether you are being billed or not... guess I'll have to check the CC account statement to figure out for certain that it was free.

Go to "Access UPS My Choice" under the Tracking tab, then go to "Preferences", then go to "Edit" on the Membership Information box. Finally uncheck "I want UPS to automatically renew my membership"
I did this the last time they offered it. The charge showed up on my credit statement. They would not change it, or cancel it, so it looks like you're stuck
