I have to think twice even if they give away these SSDs. Although OCZ is backed by Toshiba, it is a true nightmare if these SSDs die. See... the issue is when it dies, it doesn't die over the time like conventional HD. It just die in a blink of second. No chance for data recovery. I suggest a 2nd drive for real time backup if anyone decides to go with this.
^ I'm not sure that I agree that a HDD necessarily gives you more time to recover files. Often I've seen drives that just bluescreen a system then it's gone, or has the click of death when turned on.
Regardless you'd want a timely backup of any important storage volume.
The thing about these Trions is they're slow... not as bad as Intel Atom vs any other CPU slow, still faster than the slowest SSDs from a couple years ago and quite a bit faster than a typical HDD, so potentially a replacement for an old laptop at $25 or a use where the performance doesn't matter like a HTPC using a network share or separate HDD for media storage.
FYI, Tiger is one of the merchants you can use the Visa Checkout $15 off $15 discount on (one time use only).
I bought a couple of these a few months ago for the kids systems. They run just fine. They aren't quite as fast as the SanDisk in my main system but for the money they have been good!
