^ I doubt it would come off the bracket or seat. Seats aren't very rigid which absorbs some shock, and this at the very top of one, plus crumple zones are fairly effective at dissipation. IMO you'd be more likely to suffer whiplash if the impact was that bad.
I'm not buying this because it would be dangerous if I flipped over the median and my car was split in half by a tractor trailer and then caught fire... and blew up.
If the passenger moves forward, the rod is driven into your neck. This is a really poor design.
That's why you're supposed to be wearing seatbelts, so you aren't thrown forward whether there is a tablet bracket in front of you or not, but if it makes you feel more secure I suppose you could wear a full helmet w/faceguard, body armor, and view the tablet using a complicated set of polycarbonate mirrors so you aren't sitting in front of it... or just mount an air-bag on the seat below it.
