I've been wanting a Fat Tire bike, but Big Man bikes are really expensive and this one doesn't state a weight limit.

Thinking about buying this for my wife. Does anyone have experience with these big-tire bikes? I'm wondering if she'll be able to ride it with the extra weight.

Yes please, that's what I need. A bike with tires that weigh more than the ones on my car! Try pedaling that for 20 minutes. You will want your $285 back! Buy a Huffy instead, if they still make them. :)

I'll just have the New Belgium Fat Tire Beer. $285 buys a lot of beer.

Yes, They have their place, mainly a bike you can ride all season. I don't recommend a bike like this for the average rider because it is so heavy and slow. I love these bikes because they allow me to ride all winter. I have carbide studs screwed into the rubber knobby tires which allow me to ride the icy trails all winter. The wide tires and carbide studs also make the bike very stable on the extremely slippery wet roots the rest of the season.

Fat-tire bikes are good for sand, snow, and other terrain where normal tires sink but are a bit of a pain to pedal for normal use.
