NiCad? If I want retro I'll wait for the lead acid versions. Li-Ion all the way! No brainer not looking back! This obviously has them there high quality Chinese cells that never fail to not disappoint. Somethings aren't a deal at any price.

It's for older model DeWalts. It goes with the drill and the charger. You can't change all of those to Li, or otherwise you might as well get a whole new set.

I've got an old 14.4V Dewalt that's still going strong. Rebuilt the battery packs myself a couple times over the years. "Some" of their last generation kits with NiCd packs and chargers, had a charger capable of charging (capable of sensing the lower Delta -V cutoff voltage change) NiMH cells so you might also have the option of rebuilding a pack with those instead, to gain over 50% capacity, but beware of generic cells with the highest mAh rating as they tend to use a different construction that is more current limiting.

If your charger is capable of NiMH it also opens up the possibility of using low self discharge cells, though it is rare to find them in tabbed sub-C size, but then again I haven't looked for any recently and presume that eventually someone will be selling them.

That would eliminate the biggest hassle for most people which is having to charge them shortly before use, but it doesn't bother me much, seldom is there some kind of emergency where I need a cordless drill immediately, can just plan an hour ahead to charge a pack.

I'm sure the cells in these Masiones are junk based on the price but at the same time, that is a really low price. If nothing else it gets you the shell to rebuild with better cells later, and have more packs in total which is especially helpful if you have more than one tool using the same batteries.
