I converted my MagLites to LED when the conversion kits became available. Brighter and longer lasting.

168 lumens, 80 hours (till 10% lumens.. it'll be closer to 10% the majority of that period). Tenergy makes some low self discharge NiMH D cells but they're $19 a two pack and decent D cell capable chargers are rare and costly. 2x or 3x AA adapter cartridges are around $2 on
ebay
/etc.
