buttwhy is correct. The native resolution of the DLP chip is 1280x800. If you put 1920x1080 content into it (as it "supports" 1080p) it will scale it down to 1280x720 (720 vs 800 to preserve the 16:9 aspect ratio).
This also has hdmi overscan issues.... as in, there isn't any overscan correction control. Pure digital inputs can/will be chopped off at the edges.

The manufacturer admits that in their description. 1280x800 native. That's 720p.
