Not my favorite implementation of the concept, but the overall concept is worthwhile, and this would probably suit most users just fine. (I have one that also provides a 19v boosted output for laptop charging, but it's about $20 more.)
Lead-acid jump packs are old and busted. Get one of these, they work and they're amazing.
^ On the contrary you get about twice as many real cranking amps from the same price lead acid type. On the other hand, if what you really want is a beefy portable power pack that may be able to jump smaller engines, "some" units can do that. If in doubt, lookup the ratings from the (major brand) battery manufacturers, who have to provide real specs instead of fiction.

Most of these can't start from a dead battery. I have a huge one that is Schumacher brand. It looks like it has two smaller motor cycle batteries in the plastic case. I tested it. It started my car with the main battery disconnected, and still had power for three more starts. It was over $100, but well worth it, because it actually works.
