I'd rather they just left it fixed suspension... not like you can really treat this like a mountain bike so remove the weak links then it gets a little closer to that. What you'd need the suspension for, just shouldn't be attempted on a $60 bike.
I wouldn't be too concerned about the hit or miss factor of the specimen you get, providing you have a vehicle large enough to get the box back to if there are problems exceeding your willingness to tolerate for the low price point. Just inspect all parts before spending time doing the assembly.
