I think these are nice looking laptops (and maybe that is what you pay for). but the specs / price for the Asus gaming laptop that is on here seems better.

You're comparing a 5th gen i5 to a 6th gen i7. It really depends on what you're doing with the laptop, but this processor should by far out perform the other one, and is exactly where the money is going.

The Asus has a nicer graphics card, built for gaming...

I'm looking for a new laptop. Anyone have advice whether just go for it now or wait till black friday? In the past the BF deals are super great.

    1 Generation :)

Not a heck of a lot from everything I've read. The big thing seems to be support for DDR4 rams, but the gains on that seem minuscule as well. Now the laptops chips are different, but the price difference between the Hasbro and Skylake i7 procs at my Microcenter is $20, not suggesting a huge difference in production.

HP doesn't usually offer this good a deal ... no wonder it is hot.
