Today Amazon announced the launch of Prime Now, the latest perk for Amazon Prime members, which offers one-hour delivery for $7.99 and two-hour delivery for free when you use the new mobile app (iOS and Android). The selection will be initially limited to "daily essentials and gift items." What, no 55" HDTVs? Thanks, Mike!

It's now available in parts of Manhattan and additional cities will be rolled out in 2015. Their promo video shows bike messengers, but bring on the drones!

It's only available within like a 5 block radius of penn station. They'd better expand ASAP!

A new Super-Prime service would be great - they could deliver it one hour before you even thought of buying it.

You could just drive in to their radius and meet the delivery person. :)

As a resident of a metro area around 200th in population in the United States. I'll expect this in my city soon after I get my flying car and personal jet-pack.

They already do that, Zappos (an
Amazon
company) will send an additional pair of shoes in the same size you order and you can keep if you like and they will charge you or send back on their dime if you don't.

They are already planning to do something almost like this. Based on a person's order history, they are going to start stocking items that that person might purchase at the nearest warehouse to that person. So they are going to make an educated guess on what you might order based on your order history, then make sure to have it in stock physically close by so they can deliver it quickly.

I feel like
Amazon
might need to consider tiered Prime memberships. As most of us aren't within reach of distro centers, do we really want to pay our recently-increased membership fees as they roll out potentially expensive programs we won't be able to use? Create a new level of Prime that includes nonsense like this, and keep my rates where they are for as long as possible.
