The more future-proof, on par-ish performace RX 480 is available for this price range. also GTX1060 is supposed to be released for $249 in less than a week. Granted the new GTX1060 is probably going to be sold out for some time but, $255 for GTX970, a card from an outgoing 900 series lineup seems still a bit high in my opinion.

Just considering the landscape today is this with less than 20% off any deal? Consider back 15 months this was $314 with what I though was two games (I believe not a rebate) that means you would've been play & paying at <$4 a month.

What is worth mentioning is
Newegg
has the PowerColor PCS+ R9 380X 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 for $150 -AR$20 w/FS if your only looking for great 1080p and low entry price today it's BfB. (Looks to be a all day 7/15 Shell Shocker)

While it be nice to get a 480 4Gb AIB partner card (~$200) at some point I don't see that in the near future, while there's a R9 470 at some point and it will be better at 1080p it at best a month or more out.

If you're on say 260X or GTX 660 era stuff this is a great upgrade, especially if you can off-load your old card for $30-40.

I don't know if like kenray930 above if getting old Maxwell is going to hold up well going forward however any GCN will continue to be useful and as such I don't mind offering this deal up. Given how say a the 480 reference is right in there with major OC 970's or 390's. I see with the good price of this XFX R9 390 Double D XXX OC 8Gb 512-Bit of $245 -AR$20, plus Free Total War: Warhammer w/ purchase.

I think this 390 is a good purchase on price, if it's more about the lower power of the 480, or the GTX1060 and if you can hold-out. Tomorrow I plan on checking the Babel Tech reviews first to see how things stack-up

Here's the run down of 26 games with the 480, a GALAX GTX 970 EXOC, and this the XFX 390 OC.

I wish they had the added performance from Crimson 16.7.2 they report here.
