I suspect a safer and more reliable product could be made out of a HQ squirrel cage computer fan, powered by an old cell phone charger and duct taped to a short piece of vacuum hose

... which was something I was going to make but then gave up because I can't find my squirrel cage fan and can't bring myself to buy another when I know it's around here somewhere! For now I just put shoes over a central air vent and set the thermostat to fan-always-on till they're dry.
