With NVMe drives hitting the market for 6th generation Intel processors expect the prices to come down even faster. The mechanical hard drive days are numbered for new PC builds.
For what it's worth, the price on MX200 250GB is $99. The website view of their weekly flyer has a 25% off any regular priced item, (with usual exclusions, off course). So $74, plus local tax, less the 5% staples rewards they mail each month. In store only with coupon, but they'll ship product. And this is for the MX200. From the advice here, getting 2 to RAID 0 them. Best $150 I've spent in a while.
Hmmm. I remember paying $300 for a 3GB (yes gigabyte) drive, and thinking I'd never fill it. $100 per GB for HD. This SDD is 30 cents per 3gb. To me, it *has* come down in price. My desktop has room for multiple drives, so RAIDing 2 of these will be enough for an OS drive.
