I hate the rebates process. They should automate the process and get rid of the ridiculous form-filling, cutting bar-codes, mailing, etc.
That stuff is from decades ago. It's the new millennium for crying out loud!
Make it automatic, as soon as a buyer pays for the product, with no action required on the side of the buyer, and send the rebate amount as soon as the return period expires.
I'll pass. Not going to bother with the rebate hassle.

They'll never get rid of it because there is little incentive for them. They bank on you forgetting. Either you don't give them everything they need, you forget to mail it in, or some other reason. They can't give you the run around with an immediate discount.
Plus the main point of rebates is getting that UPC away from you so you take the option to return defective items ensuring the customers will request repairs, thus lowering manufacturing costs.
I would be very wary about buying anything with a mail-in rebate anymore. The last purchase I made from , a 64 gig USB flash drive, made me a permanent disbeliever. I never got the rebate, did nothing to assist, and even though I sent a copy of my online receipt that was not good enough. That was the last purchase I made from . Interestingly enough....... and have more products with mail in rebates than all the other electronics retailers combined. To me....that says look somewhere else.
Last year I bought a Samsung Galaxy Tablet from Great deal after $50 rebate. Sent in everything correctly. Got postcard that said Invalid Barcode. Before I could fix their problem, I received the rebate anyway. It was a close one, but the rebate came through.
I totally agree with your concern about the rebate process (I avoid those), but imho NewEgg is an OK retailer, I've been buying from them for many years now and have had pretty good experience and quick shipping. As to rebates, as I said I tried to not use those, so YMMV.
Never had a problem with rebates, and I've submitted quite a few...nonetheless, they are indeed a pain and unless it is a significant deal, I don't buy.
I think they count on a certain percentage forgetting about it, or deciding not to submit once they get the merchandise.
All rebates ****. I don't buy from if the item involves a rebate. And I don't purchase from Tiger Direct because of rebates and other bad experiences. "easy" rebates are just as bad.
