Hello, Can anyone give me their thoughts on this guitar? I could not find any information other than it is made in China. Even the Cordoba website does not show any info. Any idea how it compares to a Martin Road Series 2015 DRS1 Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar?
This specific model was discontinued last year so that's probably why it was on sale.
These are OUTSTANDING guitars with a WONDERFUL tone. This line is referred to as "fusion" instruments, that is, a marriage of steel-string and Spanish guitar design elements. Since Cordoba's recent acquisition of Guild from Fender, the company is courting the steel-string player in a big way. The Acero line is a result of this outreach.
While the neck looks normal enough at a glance, the Acero Series guitars are built with a Spanish heel, a classical construction technique wherein the body is affixed directly to the neck rather than a neck block. Spanish guitar designers insist the method increases the instrument's resonance because there is less mass and the connection between body and neck is more direct. (There's at least one disadvantage to this design: You can't remove the neck without destroying the body.)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8JG0Rfo7BM The only difference between the D10CE and the D11CE is the D10 has a solid Engelmann spruce top and the D11 has a solid Sitka spruce top.
The webpage at Guitar Center appears to be dead...not surprisingly, $400 for the D11CE is an awesome price!!!
