I ordered one today. Everything has gone as expected so far.

I wanted a camera for my wife to carry in her purse. Small size and light weight with decent image quality were the criteria.

Cameras like this are obsolete. Unless it's a mega-zoom or a DSLR no reason to spend the money unless you don't have a smartphone. Pictures are comparable on either platform and the convenience of the smartphone wins every time.

Perceived obsolescence, not truly obsolete. That's what the phone manufacturers want you to "think".
In fact, the picture quality on these little bad boys (even the old 5MP Casio with 3x Optical zoom) is better than an iPhone 6s, they all have dedicated flash that actually does light up the room and from a distance. They are tiny and go anywhere!
If GoPros are hot and successful with their mediocre capabilities, then these should be as well.
Anyway, The convenience of throwing a little camera in your purse or on your glove compartment for that split second where you stupid camera phone is simply not good enough makes this worth it, and at this price... it's a pretty sweet deal!

I looked at one of these types at Cannon but it did not come with the charger. Got a new one on
    eBay
for $56 with all the parts.

    Three points:
    1. it comes with a soft case, and a wrist strap that are separate Canon items.
    2. I've bought half a dozen refurbished Canon cameras from Canon. All looked new and came with all the stuff a new camera comes with including chargers. All were excellent values.
    3. This camera has a 10X zoom which covers 24 to 240 mm (35mm equivalent). Phone camera lenses typically are fixed at about 35 mm. A 10x zoom is a really useful feature!

I always have a digital point and shoot camera for those long events like music festivals or traveling overseas. It saves on battery life for your phone. It's a dedicated camera but I leave it in the hotel room when I know that my phones camera will do in a pinch when I don't want to carry the extra weight.

Pictures aren't comparable unless you only compare scenes favorable to the smartphone, and you'd have to stop using your phone for everything else while you're taking pictures with it.

I got mine today and, as always when I've ordered 'refurbished' cameras from Canon, everything was the same as a new camera. The camera's image quality is actually better than I expected as is the extra case and metal wrist strap. An extremely good deal!
