Please keep in mind if you get anything faulty, broken, or damaged in shipping from GearBest YOU will be paying to ship it back if you want a refund. And it won't be cheap.

No, they have a 3 day DOA policy that reimburses shipping -- admittedly you have to prove it with picture or video and is up to their discretion. http://www.gearbest.com/about/warranty-and-return.html#item3

what is the advantage of this type of TV box compare to just simply connect a computer to TV?

^ Smaller, uses less power, costs less, a remote control and GUI designed for media navigation, etc.

It's a different experience. With boxes like this, you use a pretty normal remote control unit to operate it, very similar as with any smart TV. The apps that run in the Kodi environment scape a lot of streams for you. In summary, it's a free (although different) concept in the vein of
Amazon
Fire stick, Roku etc.

A word of warning: I bought this and the remote was DOA. The box itself worked. I am 'negotiating' with GearBest to get a new remote sent to me but it is a painful and irritating process

Update: still getting the run-around. Despite posting a comprehensive video in which I showed the battery install AND the angle of the remote AND the fact that no lights showed on the remote, they sent me this:

Please try the following steps to solve the problem:
1. Confirm the remote control is within the maximum operational distance and angle (e.g. remote control should be within 10 meters of receiver, and deviating no more than 15 degrees);
2. Check whether the batteries of the remote control unit have power;
3. Restart the TV box and check again for response;
4. Call the local digital TV service hotline for support.

I'm tearing my hair out....

It is well known that GearBest's support and customer service sucks. The F rating by the BBB is all you need to know. Avoid them. And if you gamble on one of their products, pray to God you don't need support or a return/exchange. Because it WILL cost you, and it WILL take forever.

And if you read through all the obvious fake reviews here, you'll see what you have to look forward to: https://gearbest.pissedconsumer.com/
