Maybe they should have just made the existing phone out of more durable material with a better battery. if you don't have to put some sort of big fat battery case to protect it and get through a single day on one charge, then it will be smaller.
It's not really the iPhone 6S in 5S body. This one doesn't have 3D Touch, barometer (to meter how many flights of stairs you've climbed) and has worse screen contrast (essentially, like 5S has). So, it actually is a budget iPhone. Although, the fact that they used A9 chip and 6S's camera on this phone is great.
if u use the iphone 6 and the 6s, u will notice the 6s is much faster and smoother than the 6, because the 6s got 2GB of LPDDR4 RAM, it makes a big difference than the older 6 than use only 1GB of LPDDR3 RAM. The iPhone SE still only got the older 1GB of LPDDR2 RAM and selling for $400, hmmm........
So, after having a 5.5" screen for the past year and a half, there's no way I can go back to a smaller screen... Might be a good option for my kids, but I love my large screen... Of course, my phone is a Samsung Note 4 which has a camera that no iPhone can touch, but I definitely prefer the OS of an iPhone...
scotrinaf, just wait till the IPhone 7 Plus has a 21 megapixel DSLR quality camera and then see how your Note 4 touches that...
More megapixels does not equate to DSLR quality.
I didn't say that more megapixels equate to DSLR Quality. this is what is rumored.
"If rumours are to be believed iPhone 7 is set to make the biggest camera jump ever, by introducing the DSLR-quality photos which can be achieved by the 21-MP camera. Yes you heard it right. The rumors of iPhone 7 to feature 21 megapixel DSLR quality camera can be indeed true as John Gruber from the Daring Fireball revealed it during "The Talk Show" podcast, as per the IB Times."
^ There will never be a mainstream phone that has contemporary DSLR picture quality. The reason is simple. Cameras are an evolved purpose specific device including their size as it equates to focus, lens, etc.
No mainstream phone is going to take that huge (thick) form factor because it's a EDC everywhere-you-go/must-have device. Niche products have tried, and if Apple did it, certainly some would buy it, but IP 7 isn't going to be that at all.
Granted, if you have enough megapixels then digital adjustment can alter an image to a higher perceived quality at a lower resolution, which could be enough for many people, but current phone cameras are also enough for many people.
I'm not into huge phones but if you're paying $400+ then you'd expect to be able to do more advanced things than you would on a $50 phone, which tends to make a bigger screen as valuable as the other specs or whose name is on it. Heck, now you can get over 4" on a $50 phone but we're talking Apple so things don't have to make sense.
Justanod might have been joking about an iFlipPhone, but a display that folds out to a larger size could be of interest to power users, especially if there's also an outward facing screen that's just enough to do common things without having to unfold the larger screen. Apple likes thin/sleek/minimal though, so I'd expect someone else to bring a modern version of that to market before they do.

The best jokes always have an element of truth. Totally agree with your assessment.
Thank you!
