B&H Photo Video has the new Apple iPad 32GB 9.7" Tablet, 2017 model (Space Gray, MP2F2LL/A, Silver, MP2G2LL/A or Gold, MPGT2LL/A) for $299 with free shipping.

The new model replaces the old iPad Air line. It's a bit heavier, but it has a brighter display and the 1.85GHz A9 CPU. Oh, and they kept the headphone jack.

I still have an iPad 3 which is getting old now and no longer gets iOS updates. I would like to use Swift Playground which is not supported on the iPad 3.
Because of the better (laminated) display of the iPad Pro that would be my first choice but you can't beat $300 which is basically the price of a mini.
