next system i build will probably use this processor (you can regularly find it < $150) with the cheapest 990x motherboard i can find and an ssd. yes, an core i5 is faster in general performance, but with 8 cores i have coworkers telling me these work great for software builds (running compilation and unit tests in parallel).
Got this over the summer for my new system and it screams! Even with the stock heat sink fan it runs cool at about 45 C while playing Diablo 3. I paid a bit more than this so am a bit sad at how much I would have saved. If you are looking to upgrade you system, this or its big brother, the FX-9590, are the processors for your gaming rig.
