I bought a set for Christmas and you're correct. They lasted about 3 weeks with light usage (har har). Seriously though, buy some rechargeable batteries with these.
Obviously leaving a light on that runs off batteries, drains them. The problem is the designers were either idiots, or forced by bean-counters to use the minimal battery possible to get it to work.
"1 x CR2450 Battery". If each had used 2 x AA, could run off 2.4V NiMH (Eneloops/etc), then it would only cost a fraction of a cent per day to use them. You can get CR2450 cheap on in bulk, but still a lot more expensive than using AA rechargeable cells you already have.
