I've tried 2 different ceramic knives. Both were supposedly sharp forever. I returned the first one (expensive) after 2 months and (sorry Dave_c) threw the other one away. These things are brittle and while they are initially sharp, they don't hold an edge much longer than a good steel one. If you buy a set like this, don't use them, just keep them around for bragging rights.
^ Or use them then keep them around for bragging rights after they dull, although a set of 4 good steel knives will cost a lot more than $20... and you can sharpen ceramic knives with the right diamond sharpener.
