I just bought this model of can a few weeks ago at a different retailer. After filling it for the first time, I noticed it was leaking from the seam at the bottom of the can. Dealing with a full leaking can at the gas station is not good. I had to quickly return to the store to get another and when we looked at the other cans on the shelf we found same pretty nasty looking seams on all but two in stock. It is apparent this company doesn't leak test their cans and quality varies greatly.

Lucky for me I filled it at the gas station of the retailer I bought it from, so they did work with me to correct the problem and refilled the new can free of charge.

Spend for an old style metal can. Much more $$$ but unless U abuse it it is safer and will last many yrs.

^ Are you sure that will work? I'm not sure if it's an EPA thing but the threads on the spouts of the newer EPA friendly valved cans are spaced differently than on the old ones so I wasn't able to put an old spout on a new can.

The can in question had a spout that looked exactly like this. What I did instead is to take the spout apart, pull out the valve plate and springy plastic piece, then wash the plastic parts in hot detergent solution & dry, then glue it into the open position with silicone caulking.

The spout also comes with a little hat-like cap you can use to seal the can - at least mine did. It's MUCH better that way, can use it like a normal old can with one hand and only cost 5 cents worth of caulking to do the mod.
