How do we know they are fresh cut?
Is there a cut date on them?
Perhaps a projected hour-by-hour dropped pine needle count would be good so I can program an algorithm for my Roomba.

Considering you want to get a tree into water within 4 hours of being cut, I'd never do this. Cut your own, make it an adventure.
