Used this way back in the day and the only thing it helped was Chevron's bottom line. I think I tried Slick 50(not sure if they still sell this) as well which seemed to do nada for performance.
Lucas Oil Fuel Additive and Cleaner is cheaper and actually worked in my old ride. Seafoam seemed to have worked as well when I was younger as well. Not sure if you need any of these in modern engines though but I roll Electric these days.
As crappy as gas has become you should use some sort of cleaner occasionally. You may find this enlightening. http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=261713 Didn't look at injectors specifically just the ability to dissolve fuel system crud and not harm certain things like the nylon socks typical in modern fuel tanks. Techron came out near the bottom of this list. There are many other lists out there but are sketchy on how they test, for what, and if they take money from these companies or are unbiased. Lucas was tops on a number of them and I generally hold their products in high regard...
Useful for vehicles or lawn/garden equipment where the fuel sits for a long time and varnish forms out of it. Granted on small garden equipment you may still need to do a carb clean & rebuild.
