Somebody ought to just make a revolver style cylinder/cassette that slides over a standard sized hex driver shaft and holds 6 to 8 bits of your choosing in it. It wouldn't be automatic like this, but China could make and deliver something like that for about $1.50 total w/o bits or $3 with bits... which is part of why Sears' days are numbered.
Then again that could be all the more reason to jump on a specialty tool like this while you still can, not knowing which of the individual Craftsman tool models will survive if the brand is sold off to a 3rd party.
