Mine has worked fine so far. Regular 13-gallon Glad tall kitchen bags fit well. I didn't really need the touchless opener, and who knows how long it will work, but it's a nice looking trash can for $28 including shipping.
This thing is a pain in the a$$:
1- Batteries drain real quick
2- lid gets gunked up with the gears
3- worst issue is the sensor does not open the lid fast enough. If your throwing out dripping egg shells you stand there waiting for an extra second for lid to open.
The crazy thing is that rubbermaid wants this much for some of their all plastic trash cans. I could see it when the price of oil was very high but not so much today.
Regardless, I find all plastic a lot easier to clean, fewer nooks and crannies than this and in kitchen use if it gets too stinky you can just put it outside, blast with a garden hose, and get some bleach involved.
or a 2s / 3s lipo with a voltage regulator , right up my alley
Seems like a lot of work and expense for the end result, I'd more likely hook it up to an old 5V/1A+ phone charger as a permanent AC-DC power supply, except as mentioned previously I'd rather have an all plastic rubbermaid/etc.

Just get a foot pedal one. I wish I did...
